Every year senior dogs and cats are dropped off at our local shelter.

Their owners may have passed away, moved into a retirement community or out of the area with children. Often these wonderful, once-beloved and faithful friends are overlooked. We, as seniors residing at Bayside Care Center and Casa de Flores, are committed to helping the four-legged seniors in our community live out their lives in warm and loving homes.

All the proceeds from our community-renown homemade dog treats are used to pay the adoption fees of senior dogs and cats looking for homes within our local shelters. So far we have raised well over $3,600 and paid the adoption fee on over 55 dogs and cats in San Luis Obispo County!

GrandPaw’s Cookies Recipe

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon soft butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk

Mix flour and cheese together. Add the softened butter. Slowly add milk until you form a stiff dough. You may not need all of the milk. Knead on floured board for a few minutes.

Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Let cool in oven with the door slightly open until cold and firm. Refrigerate to keep fresh.

“… because we believe all it takes is a second look to give these loving animals a second chance to touch a life.”
